Description
The Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix is the best place to enjoy an outdoor Tai-chi class surrounded by our Koi pond, waterfall, woodlands and all the other elements.
Awareness of this amazing natural environment has become a central part of Tai Chi, which is a traditional form of Chinese defensive martial arts. However, modern scientific studies have proven that people also gain health benefits by practicing Tai Chi and the three essential components of Balance, Strength, and Brain Power. Anyone can learn Tai Chi – at any age and at all levels of fitness. Come join us in this beautiful practice, and let’s celebrate your health! Instructor: Ping Wei
Ping Wei has been studying Tai Chi for over three decades as well as teaching since the early 1990s. He holds regular weekly classes for beginners and advanced students and teaches at various venues such as community colleges, YMCA, fitness centers, and retirement communities. Ping Wei is a disciple of Master Chen Zhonghua and is a certified instructor of the Chen Style Tai Chi Quan Practical Method.
The Garden is located at 1125 North 3rd Avenue, between 3rd Avenue and Latham (2 blocks North of Roosevelt). Parking is available at the garden. When riding the Light Rail, exit at the Central and Roosevelt stop. The Garden is located on the west side of the rail, 0.3 miles from the station; it is directly behind the Irish Cultural Center (1106 N. Central Ave, Phoenix), just north of Portland Avenue. The Garden entrance is across the parking lot at 1125 N. 3rd Avenue.
