Program Description

Full Moon Ceremonies are a common practice in many ancient traditions. This powerful moon phase marks the completion of a cycle and represents abundance. It is an ideal time to surrender anything that doesn’t support your peace and joy; things that you are ready to let go of or release.

Jude from Biophilia interweaves calming sound instruments (chimes, ocean drums, rain sticks, etc.) throughout the evening. Christina from De La Sol Yoga will be your guide into the Moon Meditation in the exquisite serenity of the Japanese Friendship Garden. Timothy O’Brien of Midtown Music Lessons will play the handpan during the guided meditation.

Everyone will also take home a Biophilia gift bag with simple instructions for mindful self-care practice. Please wear comfortable clothing, bring water, a yoga mat or blanket, and anything else you may need to lie down and feel the grounding Earth supporting you.

Jude Luth is a certified herbalist with a passion for creating plant medicine and exploring nature as a therapeutic and healing tool for our community. He owns and operates Biophilia, which is a local event venue with a jungle of indoor plants located in Central Phoenix.

Christina Muruato, RYT, is an accredited and experienced yoga and mindfulness teacher and owner of De la Sol Yoga LLC. She teaches mindfulness, meditation, and yoga throughout the Phoenix area in a variety of settings including studios, businesses, non-profits, and conferences. She facilitates and leads mindfulness/yoga sessions and workshops in person, online, and at Biophilia.

Phoenix-based musician Timothy O'Brien is a multifaceted instrumentalist who creates ambient soundscapes with various instruments. From handpan to tabla to electric guitar, his music forms sonic environments with ethereal tones and textures that can accommodate many levels of listening. Timothy is also a drummer of local indie band Celebration Guns and owns and operates Midtown Music Lessons, a local music lessons studio that provides instruction for all ages.

The Garden is located at 1125 North 3rd Avenue, between 3rd Avenue and Latham (2 blocks North of Roosevelt). Parking is available at the garden. When riding the Light Rail, exit at the Central and Roosevelt stop. The Garden is located on the west side of the rail, 0.3 miles from the station; it is directly behind the Irish Cultural Center (1106 N. Central Ave, Phoenix), just north of Portland Avenue. The Garden entrance is across the parking lot at 1125 N. 3rd Avenue.
